A Burning House
Before my final high school winter retreat, I decided to plug in my camera's battery charger to the wall. My mom had been taking pictures of me at my basketball game, and I wanted to make sure that I would have a new battery the next time I used it. Knowing that I would be leaving for the weekend, I hoped that somehow, by leaving the charger in the wall for too long, it would NOT burn our house down. After coming home, I remembered that I had left it there, and for some reason began to think about if we had a fire in our house. What would I save? What would YOU save?
I came up with a list of 10 things I would grab.
(In no specific order)
1. Enrique (my camera)
2. My laptop
3. Photo albums
4. Bible
5. All of my journals
6. Memory box with letters
7. Jewelry box
8. Blanket made by my grandma
9. Basketball Uniform
10. My artwork
I know that some of these things sound kind of silly, but my dad and I were talking about it, and we decided that we would take things that we couldn't replace. So....what would you save?

I had to leave an apartment I was living in once because of a fire in the building. I grabbed my Bible and cell phone because it was all I had time to get. Had I had time, I would have taken pictures. I didn't have pets at the time, but they would have to be grabbed too!
ReplyDeleteAssuming my family was safe, my dog would be the first thing I saved. Then...hmmm, I'd like to say I'd grab photos, but they're so buried in a closet in the basement I'd probably boil before I got to them. In reality, I'm pretty sure I'd try to grab the top drawer of my bedside table where I keep notes and letters people have given me over the years that encourage me (it includes something from you). Then, I'd go for the pillow Lenna made for me followed by any quilts made by Robert's mom or sister-in-law and/or Lenna. I have a walking stick that's special I'd try to save. Lastly, I'd try to save my Bible and journals. Of course, it there was enough time, I'd go for the popcorn maker. :)
