The Viral Video

For one of my communications classes I was assigned to create a viral video. Create a viral video. Those words really don't seem to go together. After all of the videos I watched, it seemed pretty obvious to me that most are not planned.

So then came the struggle of coming up with an idea. I begged enough that my friend Lauren came up with the idea to do the Cup song with glow-in-the-dark cups!

Then came the problem solving. I purchased 3 cups and some glow-in-the-dark paint and proceeded to paint each cup multiple times. The paint was strong enough for my eyes, but the camera wouldn't pick it up.

I then grabbed a glow stick and taped it around the cup and tested it. The glow stick was extremely bright and the sound picked up really well!

The day of filming came, and Rachel, Lauren, and I practiced a little bit before strapping some glow sticks around our wrists and tapping out the tune of the cup song.

Our next idea was to break open the glow sticks and smear the glow all over the cup in a round. This was an awesome idea in theory, but we didn't exactly take into account the fact that there is broken glass that comes out when you pour the glowing liquid.

Later on, Maggie was home, and together we added some singing to the first part as we edited the whole video! It was a super fun experience, and I would appreciate it if you took the time to watch it, even if you already have! Every view counts! :)

If you helped at all with this project, thank you! Also, watch and enjoy.

Striding for him,
Melanie
