Megan Hummel Appreciation Post

Another year has passed, and this time I have the comfort in my mind of coming back to the same place, to live with some of the same people and experience the same everyday life.

They say that in college your roommate doesn't have to be your best friend, but life sure is a whole lot more fun if she is.

Twenty years ago on April 28, God created someone pretty special, but to me, what was more special was the friendship that has come out of her being in my life since August.

The first time I started to move my belongings into room 114 AB, Megan wasn't there. Instead, she left me a very detailed note about how she was sorry to be unable to meet me, and how she had chosen a specific bed, but if I wanted it, she would gladly give it up for me. Then, in the same note she apologized for being so specific, and hoped that I wouldn't think she was a total weirdo.

Megan was outgoing from the beginning, and the best thing about her was that she shared her friends with me. Transferring from Drake I had the fear that I would have to work really hard to make new friends again, but being in basketball for a very short time, and having her introduce me to anyone and everyone made me more comfortable being myself.

We have made so many memories already, and I can only see our friendship continuing to grow within the next, let's say 70, years. We have vowed to be the ladies in the nursing home who play cards together.

A funny memory from this year happened late at night or early in the morning, I'm not quite sure. We were both supposed to be asleep when all of a sudden I got a foot cramp. Well, Megan came to the rescue and tried to knead it out with her air freshener spray can.

Out of all the people I have met at Grand View, I can honestly say that I wouldn't want to have been paired with anyone other than Megan. God had a plan when he decided to put two crazy girls (we like to be called unique) in one room.

Megan and I have shared many many laughs, struggled through our sophomore year, dealt with Pharmocology (who am I kidding, I'm a comm. kid) and made some funny videos and memories.

Megan is spunky, spirited, passionate, silly, exciting, strong, loving, compassionate, lively, honest, beautiful, caring and now one of my very best friends.

I'm fairly confident that Megan doesn't actually know just how amazing she is. So that's why you just read a post entirely dedicated to Megan Dawn Hummel. She's the best roommate I could have been put with to begin my adventure at Grand View, and I am so thankful for her in my life.

Striding for him,
Melanie

Side note: This was supposed to be published on her birthday, but Blogger was arranging the pictures weirdly and I didn't want to battle.
