Photo Summer: Days 1-5

One of my bucket list goals is to take a picture every day for the Summer of 2013. So.... Here it is. Summer officially started on May 28th. I will try, if I can, to recap at least some of each day.

Day 1: May 28th, 2013

The first day that we had nothing to do with school. I couldn't count the past Friday because of graduation practice, and Monday was Memorial Day, so this was really the first day of freedom. How did I spend it? I wrote lots of "thank you's" and then decided to take a break. Erick got off of work early and we picked up Sadie and Luke, and then headed over to the creek by their house. Because of all the flooding, it was extremely deep, and the current was really strong. We still managed to have a great time though! Oh, and the boys had fun shooting off some things that we aren't going to talk about. I also got to experience something new when I put on a pair of waders. They were so weird!

Day 2: May 29th, 2013

At Drake, they do rooming a little differently than most colleges. Each freshman takes a first year seminar which helps to determine where you live. You can, however, ask for a roommate if you really do have a preference. After the admitted students day, I met a girl named Claire, and over time we have talked a lot. On Wednesday, we hung out at the mall and had a late lunch together. It was a really fun day where we got to know each other quite a bit more. We even picked a ton of the same stores to go into and found out that we had a lot in common. Probably the most funny thing that happened was when we got mistaken as sisters. Of course, I had to take some of those classic dressing room photos. I actually got the patriotic jean shorts. :) I really like the bracelet idea, but I decided to hold off for the moment. Also, I looked at a lot of different pairs of shorts to see how I could hopefully "jazz up" some of the boring pairs I already have.

Day 3: May 30th, 2013

Today was the first day that I started....kid-watching...babysitting.....nannying.....entertaining.....providing transportation for....?? the Knight girls. I am not exactly sure what I could call it because they are 15 and 12. We watched High School Musical 2 and had some yummy rice for lunch. I have a feeling that it will be a great summer. They want to help me with my bucket list! Sierra had her middle school dance, so we painted our nails for it. I love nail polish! I really hope that we have a good time and that I can come up with creative and fun ideas to do with them every day. I will miss them next week when Sierra is at camp, but I think that I will be over to at least hang out and see a movie with Sydney one of the days.

Day 4: May 31st, 2013

In the morning I wrote more thank you cards and just relaxed for awhile. I have really liked sleeping in lately. Bethany called! She needed a favor, but it really was good just to hear her voice. I already miss her. We spent the afternoon at Target finding coloring books and going to Solid Rock. Summer and I were talking about coloring today. There is something therapeutic about coloring. It can take your mind off of all your troubles and completely relax you. Later in the evening, I attended my cousins dance recital. They were so good and so fun to watch. I will admit, the dances in between were a little dry, but I still enjoyed it, and got a lot of good pictures that hopefully they will enjoy seeing soon. Plus, it will be good for my aunt to have a few to use.I think I was most impressed with Renee in her dances that she performed along with Ann. Granted, they may have been less challenging for Ann to perform, but last year, as a fifth grader, Renee began taking a few of the same classes as Ann. I liked those dances because they interacted with each other and sometimes were staged right next to each other. Here I got a couple of photos of the two of them. Steph was a real performer. Her facial expressions made me laugh a lot. What a little actress she already is.

Day 5: June 1st, 2013

They are officially dorks!
Friends. :)
Maria and her parents
I woke up at 10:45. Getting that much sleep felt AMAZING! After that, I did some organizing and showered, got ready, ate lunch, and went to my best friend's graduation party. The entire time I was her personal photog. That was interesting. I was exhausted at the end, and almost felt like I had had my party all over again, but it was worth it. I was glad to see so many people there to celebrate with her. Then, Kirk, Erick, and I headed over to G&G's house to play hand and foot with Grandma. That was so much fun! We played boys vs. girls, and then Erick and I smoked Grandma and Kirk the last round. Overall, it has been a pretty great start to my last high school summer.
Oh snap! The male models have arrived!

Summer is trapped in the kitchen!
