Bonjour!

Bonjour!

Paris

We didn't have much of an agenda for Paris, so it was far more relaxing than London had been.

Thursday, June 26th

We woke up extremely early and took a train to Paris. We arrived at about nine and then waited for a taxi at the station, even though we knew that we were pretty close to our hotel. It turns out that our hotel was connected to another station, which turned out to be very convenient for travel.

Our plan was to leave our bags at the hotel and then head out, but our room was actually ready, so we rested for about an hour before attempting to learn the Paris metro system.

Our first stop was the Louvre. Since none of us actually wanted to go inside, we just enjoyed the beauty of the building and property itself. There was a very big courtyard that lots of people were gathered around.

Next we went to one of the love lock bridges so that I could put my lock on. I know that it is traditional for a couple to do it together, but I've seen people who only have one person do it, so I followed suit. The keys are in the river now!

We visited Notre Dame and ate at a little café on a side street. Next we took a cruise up and down the river so that we could see a lot of the sights from afar. It was here that we got our first real look at the Eiffel Tower. It really is pretty cool, and I am so happy that I was able to see it!

When we got off of the boat, we decided to make the long metro journey to the tower in order to take pictures. When we got there, there was a really big line, so we decided not to climb it. Instead we relaxed and took pictures from different angles and walked around the area.

On the way back we bought cherries from a street vendor, and they were so delicious!

Friday, June 27th

We had planned on going to the Eiffel Tower early in order to go up, but it ended up working out pretty perfectly because none of us had a true desire to get up that high, or that early.

Awesome photo of the carousel's location by Maggie Raes.

Instead we slept in and ate breakfast at the hotel before getting ready and heading out. We still went to the Eiffel Tower, but walked over to a building to get a better view, which ended up being a great spot for pictures. We rode a carousel nearby and then walked the streets for the rest of the afternoon.

We had seen little tents near the tower, and so we made our way back there to purchase souvenirs before going back to the hotel to freshen up!

We ate dinner nearby, walked around a bit more, purchased our train tickets to the airport, and then relaxed for the rest if the night!

Striding for him,
Melanie
