Lesson Learned By An Unfortunate Packer

So, as you know, our bags were misplaced and didn't make it to Manchester yesterday. To top all of that off, the day before our flight was delayed and we were stuck in Chicago for 24 hours with nothing but our carry on bags.

Being the concerned person that I am, I packed pretty much only my electronics into my carry on. I had my laptop, phone, camera, and all of the chargers as well as a t-shirt, jacket, sweatshirt, my journal, and a book.

Honestly, I didn't think that it was that big of a deal because I still had all of my expensive things. I also knew that I would be receiving my luggage within the next day when we landed in Manchester.

Neither of these happened to be true. Within the first few hours I finished my book. Of course, that just made me use my phone for a lot longer than I normally would. Next, have you ever had to shower and then put on a completely dirty set of clothes? Not so bad if you have a different undergarments. Butttttt, we didn't. Thankfully we were able to buy a few new items the last two days that were able to get us by.

Our suitcases arrived this evening, and after today I am very thankful that I was able to grab my contact solution, because that was another thing that really should have been packed in my backpack!

These were the essentials that I learned I would really have appreciated over the past few days (besides clothing):

•A Toothbrush (Thankfully I was thinking enough to keep the one from the hotel.... "just in case")
•Deodorant (Maggie had me covered on that)
•Q Tips (I cannot go very long without cleaning out my ears)
•Another Book (I finished the one on my carry on, but I knew I had two more just waiting to be read from my suitcase)
•A Razor (Let's just say that my armpit forests may need to be chopped down)

So that's about all that I have on the fiasco of the last few days. Tomorrow or Friday I hope do a post covering the rest of the week!

It's 11:30 here, so as you all head to the dinner table, I'm going to "hit the hay!"

Striding for him,
Melanie
